On 31st August 1967 a meeting took place in Mill Street Hall, Kinross, the agenda being to make a decision on the formal establishment of an Art Club within the Kinross Area. A unanimous decision was reached by all attending, to proceed with the formation of the club and so Kinross and District Art Club was born. At this first meeting, a President, office bearers and a committee were elected. The annual subscriptions were set at £1.5/- for full members and 15/- for associate members.
At the second meeting of the newly elected committee held in Kinross Secondary School in the following month, discussion took place regarding finding suitable premises for the newly formed club. It is interesting to note the various premises mentioned, some of which are no longer in existence today: the Plastic Works owned by Scottish Breweries, a house in Swansacre, the McIntosh Memorial Institute and property at Cottarfauld, all of which were recorded as all being unavailable. From these early minutes, hand written in Indian ink on school jotter paper, we catch a glimpse into the past and more leisurely times in Kinross. |

50th Anniversary
|
The town and county of Kinross have grown beyond all recognition and our art club, known as KADAC, is a flourishing and vibrant organisation with a diverse membership which extends well beyond the boundaries of Kinross-shire. The club has grown, not only in numbers but in terms of what it has to offer in the visual arts.

The club celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2017 with a special programme at our Exhibition Opening Evening and featuring a slideshow of the history of the club.
