WATERCOLOUR DEMONSTRATION
Friday 11th April 2025
by Allan Perera- Liyanage

KADAC members enjoyed a demonstration by local Perthshire Artist Allan Perera-Liyanage.  This was his third visit to the Club over a number of years and was as well appreciated as ever! Allan’s experience in the Art world as well as his obvious personal talents mean that he can pass on hints in technique which are useful to both experienced artists and beginners. On this occasion he chose to paint an oriental scene with water, plants and boat activity. An enthralled audience of around twenty club members watched with fascination as he applied the paint, first a light wash as a background and gradually as he built his painting towards a foreground and finally adding in the figures and other detail. Although he was totally focussed on the task in hand, Allan was happy to take questions and to take time to explain the process of creating a painting without reliance on a model to copy. The result was a most impressive painting completed in just over an hour.

At this regular Friday painting session, Angela Walter, KADAC Vice Chair, gave a short impromptu demonstration on Encaustic Art, which evolved into a workshop for those interested. Around ten members had a fun and informative hour and by following Angela’s clear instructions each created a small colourful piece using this wax technique. A big thanks to Angela for creating this cheery opportunity.

by Hayley Mills

On Tuesday 11th February Fife artist, Hayley Mills presented an Ink Workshop to over twenty members. This was a stimulating, creative workshop where participants were encouraged to experiment with natural materials as tools to create different effects with the ink. The two hours passed very quickly, after which Angela, the Vice Chair gave the vote of thanks. The afternoon ended with a chorus of Happy Birthday for our recently appointed Chair, Amanda Hamza.

PASTELS DEMO AND WORKSHOP
GREG DRUMM
Tuesday 8th October

In October KADAC Members were treated to a demonstration, followed by a workshop, led by local Artist and Club Member, Gregg Drumm. In the first half of the Demonstration session, Greg revealed some hints
on how to achieve effects of colour and of light and shadow by applying pastels to a textured surface and varying the effect by rubbing in the colour with a finger as opposed to a brush.
The second half of the afternoon gave the opportunity to all present to have a go at this process, with amazingly impressive results.

KADAC
BETTER PLACE TO LIVE FAIR

Saturday 23rd March 2024
Picture
The Better Place to Live Fair did not disappoint this year with over 70 different charitable and community organisations taking part. KADAC was once again offered a prime position at the front of the stage which we are assured, gives the Assembly Hall an attractive and interesting backdrop and of course is a magnet for the crowds passing through.
KADAC members put on a fine exhibition of paintings which gave a flavour of the work of the Club and the interests and painting styles of the members. Eight KADAC members were on duty throughout the day, meeting members of the public and answering queries about the Club. Around half a dozen people expressed an interest in joining the Club, one of whom so far has come along to a Club session to follow up her interest.
It is appreciated by the organisers that KADAC is now a longstanding supporter of the event and it has become a three way mutual benefit to the Club, the Event and the Community. Grateful thanks to all the Club Members who gave up their time to support the Club and the Event.

Club News 2022

KADAC has just completed its 55th year in existence. With a membership of around 50, its weekly sessions are well attended and enjoyed. The focus is of course on painting and the opportunity to share with colleagues work on current projects with a wide range of subjects, styles and techniques. The club also provides opportunities for making new friends and widening horizons in the world of art which is our common interest.
The 'term' just completed has been an excellent example of this, with the following activities alongside the weekly painting sessions and our highly successful Exhibition in September:

An excellent Watercolour Demonstration by Perthshire Artist Allan Perera-Lyanage and organised by our resident Professional Adviser, local Artist Tom Sutton-Smith;

A well attended AGM setting the framework for next year's activities and appointing a new Committee, chaired by Dallas Key, to oversee the programme;

An afternoon tea celebration of the award of a British Empire Medal to General Secretary and former President Glenys Andrews for services to the Arts in Perthshire and Kinross-Shire;

An excellent and well attended Christmas Lunch at The Kirklands!

Our 2023 Calendar is now published on this website.

We welcome new members, so if you are interested in joining, do pop along some Tuesday or Friday for a 'taster' visit.
